Summary
- Authorizes the county to allow the owner of a lot or parcel within a rural residential zone to construct one accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on a lot or parcel.
- Specifies that single-family dwelling and accessory dwelling on the same lot or parcel are considered single units for purposes of calculating exemptions from ground water rights requirements.
- Some conditions to the accessory dwelling unit constructed includes it:
- Will not include more than 900 square feet of useable floor area.
- Will not be located in a designated area of critical state concern.
- A county that allows construction of an ADU may not approve:
- A division of a lot so that the single family dwelling is located in a different lot than the ADU.
- The construction of an additional ADU on the same lot or parcel.
