The Impact of Property Taxes on NYC's Multifamily Buildings

Property taxes are New York City’s largest source of local revenue. The city’s property tax system contributes to notable disparities in effective tax rates across property types. In our annual report, the NYU Furman Center examines the impact of property taxes on multifamily buildings and walks through how potential reforms of the system would impact the City’s rental properties.
