Summary

  • Allows public school land to be leased for up to 99 years to provide developers with financing flexibility for housing projects. It enables the transfer of land directly to the Department of Education and requires legislative approval before the Hawaii Public Housing Authority can sell any land. Excludes lands set aside by governor to Hawaii Public Housing Authority and lands to which Hawaii Public Housing Authority holds title from the definition of public lands. Effective July 1, 2019
