Molly Wasow Park

Molly Wasow Park most recently served as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Social Services, where she led the largest social services agency in the country, overseeing both the Human Resources Administration and the Department of Homeless Services. In this role, she directed strategy and operations for programs serving millions of New Yorkers, guiding the agency through extraordinary challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the city’s response to the arrival of asylum seekers in 2022.  During her tenure, she also led the growth of the Department’s housing assistance programs, building one of the nation’s largest housing voucher programs and cementing DSS’ role as a housing agency.

Prior to becoming Commissioner, Molly served as First Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Homeless Services, where she led rehousing strategy, shelter capacity expansion, and agency-wide planning and operations. She has spent more than a decade shaping New York City’s housing and human services systems, including senior leadership roles at the Department of Housing Preservation and Development and as Chief Operating Officer of Settlement Housing Fund.

Throughout her career, Molly has focused on building systems that are both operationally strong and grounded in equity — advancing affordable housing production, overseeing one of the nation’s largest Section 8 programs, and strengthening the city’s safety net during times of crisis.

She is a graduate of Amherst College and holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy.
