Federal Housing Programs in New York City
The NYU Furman Center presents, Federal Housing Programs in New York City, in conjunction with the release of the State of New York City’s Housing and Neighborhoods report.
New York City’s housing programs depend on billions of dollars in federal funding each year. These resources help low-income families afford housing, support repairs to aging public housing and other distressed properties, and finance the preservation and construction of affordable homes. This year’s State of New York City’s Housing and Neighborhoods’ focus report examines how federal funding is used to support housing and homelessness programs in New York City, and considers the potential impact of proposed federal cuts on New York City’s renters, building owners, homeowners, and neighborhoods. The report will also assess the Opportunity Zone program, to evaluate whether its tax incentives have meaningfully contributed to housing development across the five boroughs given current federal discussions to expand the program.
