New York City's Low Density Neighborhoods
The NYU Furman Center is pleased to announce By the Numbers, our launch event highlighting the release of the State of New York City’s Housing and Neighborhoods in 2022 report. This year’s focus was on New York City’s Low-Density Neighborhoods.
We explored the diversity of New York City’s low-density neighborhoods, including the people who live in them, the housing stock of low-density neighborhoods, and the state of land use regulations in these areas. We also examined the market rate and affordable housing stock in these neighborhoods, and considered the opportunities and challenges they face. The report shed light on a broader conversation focused on adding new supply in the midst of a housing crisis, and how all communities can participate in this effort.
