This event marked the launch of the Furman Center’s State of New York City’s Housing and Neighborhoods in 2015 report.
This year’s program focused on gentrification, including how New York City’s low-income neighborhoods have changed since 1990 in terms of income, housing stock, demographics, rent levels, and race. The panel discussion explored whether and how cities with rapidly-rising rents should respond to such changes.
