Summary
- Authorizes city or county to adopt five-year property tax exemption for newly constructed accessory dwelling unit, or newly converted duplex, triplex or quadplex, that is used as occupant’s primary residence.
- Requires support from other taxing districts within the city or county, and the combined rates of taxation of the taxing districts that support the ordinance to be at least 51 percent of the total tax rate.
- Outlines procedures for filing application for exemption, including that the adopting jurisdiction must determine property eligibility within 60 days of receiving an application.
- Applies to property tax years beginning on or after July 1, 2024.
