Summary
- Authorizes city or county to designate areas within jurisdiction as vertical housing development zones. Removes Housing and Community Services Department from the designation process. Requires city or county to consider potential for displacement of households within proposed vertical housing development zone before designating zone. Establishes requirements for city or county to certify vertical housing development projects within a zone, including that 50% of ground floor street frontage must include nonresidential uses.
- The vertical housing development zone is an existing program that provides property tax exemptions for cities or counties to develop mixed-use vertical housing projects.
