Summary
- Establishes an obligation to affirmatively further fair housing through the administration of programs and activities related to housing and community development by requiring meaningful actions to:
- identify and overcome patterns of residential segregation and housing discrimination,
- eradicate racially or ethnically concentrated areas of poverty; reduce disparities in access to opportunity,
- eliminate disproportionate housing needs; provide the public opportunities to participate on fair housing issues and policy,
- encourage and maintain compliance with anti-discrimination or fair housing law.
- Applies the obligation to the Commissioner of Housing and Community Renewal and any state department, agency or office administering housing and community development laws or housing and community development programs, including but not limited to the New York State Homes and Community Renewal.
- Requires The Commissioner to draft an annual report on progress.
