Summary
- Requires certain cities planning under the Growth Management Act to authorize minimum development densities in residential zones.
- A city with at least 25,000 but less than 75,000 people that is required or chooses to plan must allow for the development of: two units on residential lots; four units on residential lots within a quarter mile of a major transit stop; and four units on residential lots if at least one unit is affordable housing.
- A city with at least 75,000 people that is required or chooses to plan must allow for the development of: four units on residential lots; six units on residential lots within a quarter mile of a major transit stop; and six units on residential lots if at least one unit is affordable housing.
- A city with less than 25,000 people within an urban growth area that is required or chooses to plan must allow for the development of: two units on residential lots.
- Planning cities must not require zoning regulations for middle housing that are more restrictive than those for single-family residences.
- Requires the Department of Commerce to provide technical assistance to cities in implementing the requirements and to develop model missing housing ordinances.
