Summary
- For leases entered into on or after January 1, 2022, caps “affordable rent” in certain assisted rental housing developments at 30 percent of 15 percent of area median income (AMI), adjusted for family size, for acutely low income households.
- Adds “acutely low income households” as a new income category under the Health and Safety Code, defines them as persons and families with incomes not exceeding 15 percent of AMI, adjusted for family size.
- Applies to rental housing developments receiving assistance under the Zenovich-Moscone-Chacon Housing and Home Finance Act.
- Imposes a state-mandated local program by revising local administration of affordable rent requirements; provides for state reimbursement if required by the Commission on State Mandates.
