Summary

  • Requires municipalities with 75,000 or more persons to authorize the development of duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, and townhomes as a permitted use on all lots zoned for single-family residential use within one mile of their central business district and on at least 20 percent of any new development of more than 10 contiguous acres.
    • Prohibits municipalities from discouraging the development of middle housing, restricting middle housing types to less than two floors or to a floor area ratio of less than 50 percent, setting permitting or review processes on middle housing that are more restrictive than those for single-family dwellings, requiring owner occupancy, requiring structures to comply with commercial building codes, or requiring more than one off-street parking space per unit.
