Summary
- Allows dwellings that are authorized as Class B hotels to also be authorized as dwellings for permanent residences.
- Requires that for occupancy of Class B hotels for permanent residence:
- Such occupancy shall be subject to the approval of the local housing agency.
- A portion of the dwelling shall be located within a district zoned for residential uses and is not located in an industrial business zone.
- For hotels with workers represented by a collective bargaining representative the representative must be notified and agree to the conversion.
- Units must be financed by the state or purchased, acquired or financed by a local housing agency for the purposes of creating supportive and/or permanently affordable housing to be operated by a nonprofit organization to serve low-income households or people experiencing homelessness.
- Defines low-income as households earning no more than sixty percent of the area median income.
