Summary
- Allows municipalities and public transit counties to create Housing and Transit Reinvestment Zones, aimed at increasing the availability of housing, including affordable housing, as well as higher utilization of public transit. With such zones, the act:
- Requires 10 percent of proposed housing units within the zone to be affordable.
- Requires more than half of the developable area within the zone to be dedicated to residential development with an average of 50 multi-family dwelling units per acre or greater.
- Allows a municipality or public transit county to receive and use tax increment and housing and transit reinvestment zone funds to support development surrounding public transit stations.
