Summary
- Exempts certain designated student housing from the school facilities surcharge. Authorizes the governing body of the county to impose a school facilities surcharge on new residential construction and a public safety surcharge on certain new residential construction for which a county building permit has been issued.
- Prince George’s County shall reduce the School Facilities Surcharge by 50% for multifamily housing projects with a building permit issued that are within an approved transit overlay zone or within one-quarter mile of a Metro or MARC station.
- Prince George’s County is required to review the impact of the school facilities surcharge and public safety surcharge, including potential changes to positively affect the construction and maintenance of affordable housing, and report recommendations by December 1, 2020.
