Summary
- Defines affordable housing to mean housing occupied or reserved for households whose incomes are at or below certain income requirements at rental rates affordable to such households.
- Defines Housing sponsor to mean a person who constructs, develops, rehabilitates, purchases, or owns a housing development that is legally required to provide affordable housing, at least in part. Housing sponsors include public bodies, non-profits, various types of for-profit entities, and other legal entities.
- Creates the Economic Revitalization and Investment Fund, which can distribute funds to projects that include affordable housing units for households whose income is no more than 30 percent of the area median income for the county or municipality where the project is located.
- Modifies state low-income housing tax credit provisions, including by raising the aggregate tax credit limit from 12.5 cents to 34.5 cents times the state’s population.
